A smart construction gives this bed a magical, floating look
Odds are you'll have to do a double take after seeing this photo. Nope, it's not Photoshopped. This bed in London's Notting Hill neighborhood gets its floating appearance from a clever structural trick. Installed by British designer Kia Sundra, the bed stays in place thanks to a hidden leg.

| The bedframe is designed by Lago, an Italian product designer. The model's name is Fluttua ("float"). A metal leg in the middle holds the bed, which is also anchored securely into the wall behind. "It most certainly isn't going anywhere," says Sunda. This bed was something the client had seen before, but she wasn't sure it would work for her since it eliminated the possibility of under-bed storage. But Sunda incorporated wall cabinets on the left side of the room to compensate, allowing this bed to seem to float on air. Amy Hopkins Designs I did this for a client in their pre-teen daughter's room 4 years ago. We had a local welder make the frame and the bracket that secures it to the wall. We also lit it from underneath with pink rope lights.

sofiacb99 I love this effect! But for some, the tucked-in bed sheets are hard to keep up with. A more elevated model would be ideal for those wanting to let the sheets hang.
