Designer and builder Bruce Wentworth left the rafters exposed and painted them white to lighten up the space. He used wood strips to cover some of the more unsightly elements, like ductwork and structural posts, and in this area to create a clever media wall.
The renovation also gave the parents a home office from which they can keep an eye or ear on the kids.
Duebber gave the small windows a larger presence by adding wood aprons beneath them. "Adding this wood warmed up the walls, balanced out the materials and gave my clients additional spots to display things," he explains.
