Designer Ann West has called this Washington D.C. residence home for more than 15 years. In that time, she has collected a mix of unique antiques, wares and upholstery and gathered them in pretty vignettes: Tailored furniture in the formal living room is surrounded by collections of patina mirrors, vintage church relics, French-country shields, and delicately framed drawings.
While the overall effect feels quite elegant, there's a high/low quality to the space that gives it a nicely casual vibe. A salon grouping of artwork and other pieces doesn't feel too calculated or measured. Family photos are grouped together in front of stacks of books, giving the family room a practicality. All in all, the space is a lesson in beautifully appointed rooms that are also livable.
