Bertrand Goldberg: Architecture of Invention The Art Institute of Chicago Chicago, Ill. If you're in the Windy City, visit the Bertrand Goldberg exhibition to see over 100 original drawings, photos and more providing a comprehensive retrospective of a recognized contributor to Chicago's architectural environment. Goldberg was an innovative architect known for his groundbreaking design for Marina City (1959-1967). This exhibit is allows you to see his career within a historical framework, extending from his experimental origins at the Bauhaus to his visionary plans for the postwar American city. Reserve a spot for a hands-on workshop (Oct. 1-2) where you can create your very own sculptural models inspired by the Goldberg exhibit. While at the Art Institute, you can check out Design Inspiration: 19th Century American Builders’ Manuals and Pattern Books through Nov. 1.
