Burton Architecture These pegboard systems are great. I've designed two kitchens using these in drawers (see photos, sorry the drawers aren't open) and they're a great solution to storing plates/bowls/etc when you're designing an open kitchen with few, if any, upper cabinets.

ronnie1950 Is there a weight limit for an existing (not brand new construction) drawer? Shouldn't that be taken into consideration? I have china dishes, not plastic, and am concerned that it might be too much for sliding in and out. How do I find out what that limit might be?

libby landy i tried to do the pegboard w/dowels and found the dowels extremely wobbly unless i doubled up the pegboard - which was very hard to align exactly the same for the holes. :-( i use it but it's not the greatest.

myhouzzisyourhouzz Can't pegboard dowel with my cheap cabinets, but sounds like a great idea otherwise. You could buy a wooden insert that's pre-drilled so you could modify with pegs without trashing your drawers! It could work!!!! xx

Blue Bridge Cabinetry and Design You definitely have to take the drawer slide weight load rating into consideration. ESPECIALLY if you plan to stack plates. Best way to do that is to check the online specifications from the manufacturer of your slides. Most decent, ball bearing slides should be able to handle 55lbs+, but I'm not sure about the Nylon roller types. That's (one of the reasons) I never use them. Personally, I like undermount full extension ball bearing slides (Hafele sells ones from Grass...which are excellent). Nova Pro slides with a 3/4" plywood bottom can handle anything.

dawnwinds58 What an absolutely wonderful way to make a kitchen friendly to both the wheel chair bound chef and the more "vertically challenged" of my grandchildren. I love it!!

andrea0829 Ikea also has great plate racks that can be taken out of the drawer when serving a buffet. www.ikea.com

Why not keep all in the same drawer..... they support one another..... and there are no pegs to work around!!!
