I love the idea of placing 3-D art in wall boxes. You can have a lot of fun with this, painting the box a contrasting color to the rest of the wall, then adding in metal artwork. Metal art is popular right now and can be found everywhere.

Tall 3-D art is a fabulous focal point above a sofa. It pulls the back of the sofa up toward the ceiling. When you use wood you instantly get a warm effect, creating a cozy seating area.

Create a whimsical feel using these Umbra Wallflowers. Bunch a few of them together, then add more to create waves and spirals. If you use white 3-D art, you can choose a monochromatic look like this, or paint your wall a deep color for contrast. Use them in a nursery or child's bedroom to create a fairy tale, wonderland-like space for new curious eyes!
Add 3-D flying butterflies too, taking off toward the ceiling. I have used butterflies from Umbra. It was so easy to put them on the wall. They come with little push pins. I pushed little metal thumbtacks into the wall where I wanted the butterflies, then attached the butterflies to the thumbtacks by magnet. Check out all the Umbra wall decor here.

patscats2 Did anyone see HGTV's Design Star show this season? On the very first show one of the contestants put up some wall art like Umbra Wallflowers Set and Vern Yip insulted her and told her it was tacky and cheesy and she was the first to get kicked out of the competition. Doesn't say much for Vern Yip's design knoweldge. I call him the One Trick Pony designer because he doesn't know how to design anything but modern and doesn't even appreciate any other design unless it's his taste. A sign of a poor designer in my opinion. After I read this contestant's bio I knew they had kicked her off so quickly because she could have ran circles around all three judges who are suppose to be HGTV's finest.

Mona Ives I feel like that show doesn't really test design chops - it's how "crafty" you are and how fast you can work under pressure. That's not the true test of a designer - I know it takes me longer than 2 days to plan, design, and implement a room. How many designers do their own painting or make crafts for their clients... maybe only a few.
