ymmdfd Our front hall color wraps around to peek into the kitchen (where the giraffe photo is) so we get to enjoy it there, as well. BTW the color is Extra Virgin Olive Oil by Glidden. Appropriate, no?

poogan I took some of my 94 year old mother's collection of kitchen items and made them into shadow boxes. The large one has cookie cutters, a rolling pin (and a photo of me when I was about 4 years old using it!) as well as one of my mother's handwritten, cherished recipes. In another shadow box, I used her jello molds in an artistic fashion. Ad yet a third shadow box, her hammered aluminum "crumb duster" set - the brush and tray. I had them professionally framed with brushed stainless steel frames. It's so personal, everyone comments on them- and special memories of my mom preserved. I also love my big clock from Restoration Hardware.

jeniecegoellner Mine is actually the uper beams that go around my kitchen. I found an artist I realy liked that did chef prints and placed them all around my kitchen, playing with some themes like "Milk" above the fridge or "Herbs" above my spice drawer.

burns_la I don't have any kitchen walls (really!) No uppers because I have all windows to enjoy our valley views. So...on the one wall with my microwave and fridge and pantry (behind the bard slider doors) I have a shelf, upon which I put all my "stuff" for display...

sjmom I really like the plate display. It add interest but doesn't take away from the room and if you have collected them over time even better.

Kimberly Niesz Fun ideas! Really like the look of the black frame gallery wall, and think the restaurant sign or menu is so perfect for the kitchen (count me in as one of the vintage lovers).
Although our kitchen will have to wait a while for its remodel, I found a large old bread sign at the flea market to add some interest until then. I also used magnetic primer and chalkboard paint on the pantry door.

Shannan Thompson I have a plate arrangement in my kitchen that I love. Others don't, however, because it's easy to knock the plates off. Does anyone have any suggestions as to how I can keep them there without gluing them to the wall?

garmangang Sharon - Have you tried the plate hangers that have prongs w/ springs on the back of the plates? I used them with my hanging plates and picture hangers that I pinched closed with pliers, hanging the spring wires through them. With 4 kids in the house we had no problems with them coming off the wall. Bouncing on the walls, YES! :)

Liz Davey I have used 13 antique metal pie plates in a similar manner to the white plates in the first photo.
