Perfectly Composed Small Rooms (9 comments)
Design ideas for small living rooms, kitchens and more
You can keep a small room from feeling claustrauphobic by opening it up to another room. In this case, it's the kitchen. Also, the built in shelves allow for a lot of storage and draw the eye up. Finally, white walls and ceilings give a more open feeling to the room.

Here the focal point is the fireplace. Smaller pieces are placed at the opening to the room to allow flow. A workstation is tucked in a nook beyond the fireplace. The windows allow for spectacular natural light and extend the space visually.

This wide hallway takes on a gallery feel with the modern chairs, white walls, and art arrangement.

This room is the epitome of a cozy small space. I love that high shelf which keeps displayed items out of the way, and the way it is grounded by the rug.

This room is made for tucking in a small couch, hiding media in the cabinets and allowing passage to the terrace outside.

I love the proportions of this room, which are exaggerated by the tall shelves and ladder. All of that vertical space allows them to fit a few extra pieces into the limited floor space without seeming cramped.

This window nook takes maximum advantage of what could have been wasted space. The view is great too.

Again, what could be just some wasted hallway space is a perfect work nook.

The sectional sofa creates a small "room" within a larger room.

This is the perfect size bedroom. There is room for a dresser and a slipper chair past the foot of the bed.

The clear coffee table gives the illusion of more open space in this room.

diva, they always seem to hit it out of the park, don't they?

Loved the shelf at the end of the room, but hated the huge objects on it. They overpowered the room and made it appear even smaller.
Like the bedroom with the beige bedding. Very relaxing and pretty.

Hi becky,
i have a small bedroom, (see attached floor plan) with size more or less 3 meters x 2 meters here in the Philippines, i can't seem to figure out where to put my built in wardrobe.. and a single bed,,, and also thinking of sliding doors instead of a swing door just to save space, what do you think? please HELP!

How high are your ceilings? Is a loft bed out of the question with storage underneath? Is that part on the right that is shaded - oh, I see, that's not even part of the room. I take it the bed is longer than 2 meters? Maybe not? Could it go at the top of that plan but facing perpendicular? A pocket door would help immensely but can be tough to install.
