When my family and I moved this summer into a bungalow house, we looked at the more spacious living room area and the adjoining dining room and decided to swap them and use them oppositely. So we created a spacious dining area with our long rectangle dining table, an open barn wood armoire for serving, et cetera. And we made the dining room into a cozy library lined with books, covered the walls with frames and our flatscreen above a writing desk.
Point being: we found ourselves in the library with a huge dining room chandelier hanging down. Bemused, we raised it a little and kept it, adoring the character it unexpectedly adds to the little loved library.
Here are some examples of rooms that use chandeliers throughout the house. A chandelier can easily be installed by an electrician, or you can swap an existing one out for that perfect find.

The view from above. I love that there is more than one and that they coordinate but do not in match or height. This would be a fun DIY project out of first-rate (or second hand) lamp shades.

Phi Sound like a great change about your dining room. It is true to have a chandelier in your spacious dining room can make a difference. You said "installed by an electrician". I just brought lighting for www.philazlighting.com I wondering if I can install it myself. It probably will costs about $100 to ask the electrician to do the installation for each crystal chandelier. How much did it cost you? By the way, I love the images you post. It is contemporary modern and chic.
