I have a serious love for really long, old, weathered picnic tables. They tell a story of thousands of great meals and long nights, and of the people who have surrounded them.
That look is perfect in the yard, of course, but it also works when it moves inside. Kitchens - whether they're super traditional or uber-modern - look great finished with a wooden table. Like these:
