Seeing this picture gave me an aha! design moment, as I own one of these vintage French munitions baskets and could never quite come up with the perfect place for it. It doesn't take away from the round mirrors, and its black writing and tan color coordinate well with the room's color scheme.
This basket was created by artist Jonathan Kline. The piece is the ideal scale in proportion to the bed and the wall and introduces interesting texture and pattern to the room.
Another woven tray by Kline adorns the same over the bed space in the same cottage, this one fitting nicely into a smaller area.
Tobacco baskets work well in living rooms and family rooms as well. Their slats create a unique pattern on the wall.
Here the basket is a rustic focal point over the fireplace.
These baskets are utilitarian in nature but add to the style of this laundry room. Hanging them on the wall saves floorspace and keeps things from looking cluttered.
Wooden apple baskets become decorative accents and provide helpful storage when hung in this manner.
These baskets are handwoven by women in Rawanda, and they look smashing arranged in a group on a wall.
Creels are a great way to add rustic cabin charm to a room.
