Pick Up Some White Pumpkins for Elegant Fall Decorating

Ghost-white gourds give autumn decorating a chic alternative to the jack-o'-lantern

I'm seeing white pumpkins everywhere this fall. A chic alternative to the overly-associated-with-Halloween-orange variety, white pumpkins add seasonal appropriateness to your interior arrangements. The look can be sophisticated, fun and provides a way to change up your space without being so theme oriented. Some of these examples are varieties of pumpkins that are naturally white; others are painted for an even whiter effect.

The white "Baby Boo" pumpkins are hidden amongst white ceramic objets d'art and a paper mache sheep figurine. The eclectic mix of farm/country furnishings with the slick, black West Elm lattice-back chairs creates an overall warm look.

This is utterly modern through and through. You've got the classic mod pairing of black and white, with the gorgeous white "Silver Moon" pumpkins lining each side of the staircase. The key to make this look so fresh and dramatic is that all the pumpkins are the same size; the symmetry and simplicity create quite a statement for a fall event.

Here, flat matte craft paint was used to coat regular orange pumpkins. We are calling these "ghost pumpkins." Paired with the wispy white flags overhead, this is perfect for a sophisticated tablescape or centerpiece.

Orange pumpkins on this mantel would lessen the elegance of this beige-and-white mantel arrangement. Instead, these mini pumpkins resemble creamware, providing just enough of a farm-to-home feel.

when winter comes.. coat the tops w/Elmer's glue then cover w/Epsom's salts.. looks like
"snow" that glistens and it just keeps getting whiter and whiter as the days pass... it's stunning... they are certainly a "two season" feature...

I bought a white pumpkin this year for too much money. I had never seen one and couldn't help myself. A few days ago it came to me; why not buy a regular (read: cheap) pumpkin and paint it white? I haven't done it but I believe it would work just fine. I'll give it a shot next Halloween.
