See how a vintage skirt hanger can become a fun and flexible alternative to a frame
Thanks to online stores like Etsy, purchasing affordable art has become much easier. Unfortunately, framing and matting can be more expensive than the art itself. If you're like me, you quickly end up with a pile of posters and no way to display them. In a Houzz tour last week, Jenny Mitchell — vintage maven and author of the blog Freckle Wonder — revealed a cute and incredibly simple way to solve this dilemma.

Instead of breaking the bank buying a frame and mat, Mitchell gave this print an extra quirky touch by hanging it from a wooden skirt hanger.
While Mitchell has seen a few spins on this idea online, her biggest inspiration came from Rachel Denbow, who often uses old fashioned clipboards to display photos, art, and bits of inspiration.
"I like the ease and flexibility of using a simple skirt hanger to display a print," says Mitchell. "When the mood strikes, I can swap it out in seconds." Mitchell has purchased scads of prints online, and this is a cheap and easy way to display them. That is, until she's saved enough to make a big trip to the framing store.
