Halloween is quickly approaching, and if your favorite part of the holiday is its scare factor, then it’s time to make sure your home’s spook level has been turned up a notch. Check out the following photos to see how fellow Houzzers have spook-ified their homes. Warning: these décor schemes are only for the brave.

Frame an assortment of creepy items and images in a gallery wall. Showcase the wall via candlelight: Everything appears scarier under a candle’s glow.
Here’s a simple idea: Frame old black and white photos from scary movies like The Birds by Alfred Hitchcock. Place them across your fireplace mantle for your guests to see. Just the memory of these frightening films will cause a chill.
Of course, a spooky tablescape is a must. The black netting along the base of the candleholder creates an eerie sense of fog, and a ripped runner looks like spiderwebs inching across the table.

Playing with lighting is a great way to up the scare factor of your home. Replace your room’s usual lighting with a small bulb placed inside a faux skull head. Turn off all lights besides this and watch the room fill with the creepiest of shadows.
A very simple way to set a spooky scene is by placing lit candles in front of a mirror. The reflections alone will send you running for the covers.
Have some fun with wall decals, like these mice along the stairs. A glimpse of one of these unexpected fellas out of the corner of your eye is sure to make you shriek.
Console tables and mantles are the perfect setting for bone-chilling décor. Mummies and skull-laden candles are sure to create a scare. Even the photograph on the wall adds to the spooky allure!
