One of the owners has a design firm in the city. After they came with the idea, they found a photo online they loved, blew it up, and printed it at his office.
The two towers aren't the only eye-catching aspects of this room's design. The beautiful reclaimed wood ceiling is another tribute to Seattle design history. The wood is reclaimed from a fire floor in the original home. These floors were very common in Seattle warehouses as a form of fire protection. They consisted of solid sheets of wood laid on-end vertically, so you can only see the half-inch edge. The result was a 4-inch-thick floor. This ceiling was built the same way.
This breakfast nook sits right off of the kitchen. The steel table was made by the craftsman who also designed and built railings for the home. The countertop is honed Carrera marble with a fabricated 2.5" edge, and the wood floor is a
bleached oak reclaimed from a French Chateau.
