If you have a wall of windows that almost stretch end to end, add lightweight panels between them to create an illusion that there is no break between each window. This is a great look when using non-functional (stationary) drapes because functional drapes could require more widths of fabric, which gets costly, and you end up with a bulkier look that will allow in less light. If you need privacy for this look, use a shade mounted behind the drapes. Hang the rod longer than than where the windows end to create the look of wall-to-wall windows.
4 chairs around low table
When several chairs are required for a large dining table, it's always nice to break up the monotony with host and hostess chairs at both ends. Here, two chairs in a striking shade of red create interest and reinforce the red accents in the space.
These mismatched lounge chairs work very well because they are the same size. Sameness in scale and comfort is important when using unlike furniture pieces in close proximity — especially chairs, where guests will always race for the most comfortable seat.
The bar stools are all the same size, but the different upholstery makes them extra cool.
Mixing up lighting fixtures is a sure way to overcome that strict, uniform hotel-lobby look. If you have the opportunity to use multiple hanging fixtures, select a diverse group. You can always unify them by choosing the same finish, but the look won't be so humdrum.
Mix patterns with solids. If all your chairs are the same style, add interest to their display by upholstering half of them in patterned fabric and the other half in solid, and set them up every-other around the table.
Mix styles within the same color palette. This gives you the opportunity to choose a variety of different styles (think inexpensive flea market finds). Using the same color and upholstery throughout instantly creates cohesion.
my feet are always chilly in the colder months. An easy fix for this is a rug in a dark shade — it will collect heat from any sun it may get during the day. Your toes will thank you
