Like it or not, Jack Frost is edging in on us at quite a rapid rate. And if you happen to live on the East Coast, you are already enjoying winter's blustery ways. Right? Okay, so maybe not — that was a mean trick that Mother Nature played on you guys. But either way, unless you live where there's never any snow in sight, winter will soon coddle us with widespread blankets of white fluffy snow for weeks and weeks.
Are you ready for the chilly wrath of winter? If you aren't, it's probably a good time to start thinking about what you need in order to make it through the season with a smile. Of course, it would be wonderful if we all had our own personal snow plowing services. But if you aren't fortunate enough to have any connections and aren't prepared to shell out a few hundred bucks on a snow blower, this list is for you.

Shovel. If you're old-school, you'll be sure to appreciate shovel that's simple and to the point. While metal shovels may last longer, they can also be quite heavy, which is why a metal-bladed plastic shovel is a great alternative. You can always get something like this with a bent handle, which is said to be easier on your back.

Ice chopper. This tool is nice to have when water starts to spill from the gutters, eventually creating a sheet of ice on the ground below. Rather than piling a mountain of salt onto the ice, you can break it up first and then push it away. This one is especially dandy because it's purple.

Galvanized trash can. If you live in an area that requires salting the driveway many times during the icy months, you might as well transfer your salt into a bin a little more aesthetically pleasing than the original plastic bag. Roof rake. Growing up, I had never heard of a roof rake, mainly because the pitch of our roof was relatively steep.
But when my husband and I settled in our ranch-style house, we were quick to notice that the snow on top never really went anywhere. It just kept piling higher and higher.
Off to the store we trudged to buy ourselves a roof rake, which allows for snow removal from ground level.
Just make sure you do the task before you shovel the driveway. Don't ask me how I know this.
