Small Spaces/Big Dreams

I'm a former real estate agent turned stylist/stager, with a college major in art and design. I've worked for and with furniture showrooms, builders, realtors and private individuals. It could be an on-site evaluation and list of suggestions for the client, or projects with everything by phone and internet. I no longer do heavy on-site work but still enjoy helping with arrangement, color and display on local projects. My website is www.Artzzle.com, where I share easy, economical decor and craft ideas, information and projects.

Having been a military spouse, student's wife then student myself, I've lived many places, in some very small spaces, on even smaller budgets. I know that "make-do" doesn't have to doom your decorating. It just drives you down more creative avenues. Lack of room and money forces you to choose purchases wisely You begin looking at "double-duty" items; a dresser that is also a TV stand; a table that becomes a desk; a couch doubles for extra sleeping duty. Side tables have shelves and drawers for more storage. Wall and floor space become precious and even your accessories are multi-purposed; vases become utilitarian, holding more than just flowers on the counter. If a piece is allowed in, it has to be a real solider not just a pretty face. .
Small spaces can provide creativity as well as comfort.
It says "Come on in for a hug!"
It shouts "I'm small but sooooooooo creative!"
Modern look, clean but still enough green.
Like the arrangement, mismatched chairs and table. Love the orange but almost too much even for me, and looks to "Halloween-ish" with the dark cabinets. But overall design and use of space is very nice.
That's it, no space wasted!
No need for words.
For all those older homes with closets just to small to use as closets. Great, practical and pretty use of this space.
Nice LITTLE entry space.
Great examples of scale, balance of pieces and heights; colors tenebrized nicely; nice mixtures of shapes.
Like cabinets; clean lines; combo of darks and lights.
Steps are drawers. Like the wood wall as well. Adds to the style of the small apartment space-gives continuity.
Bench at end of bed.
Wonderful turning wall.
Nice example of smaller scale chairs used in tight spaces.
Not practical choice for this area, but I just wanted to note the fun reflections of light on the ceiling.
Soooooooooooo unique ... like it!
Bookshelves unit could work in small apartments.
