Black appliances in an off-white kitchen? Yeah, I was skeptical too, but after seeing this photo I'm a convert. The dark countertops, backsplash, furniture, flooring and accents all help to ground the range and refrigerator and integrate them smoothly into the space. Love!

Dark wood cabinets and dark appliances are a tried-and-true combo, but this approach feels fresh. There's a nice symmetry: The use of black on the cooktop hood anchors the black ovens and refrigerator that flank it.
What's black, white and red all over? This fab bistro-style space, which manages to look eclectic and cohesive at the same time. Red moldings spark the neutral colors, and the soft gray cabinetry ties it all together. And how much do I love the fact that the black on the fridge comes from chalkboard paint?

I think it turned out pretty good (and the whole remodel was less than $4K!!)
Just lots of looking around for deals and being flexible on the details.
You should see the master bath I did for just a little less than the kitchen. I got large scale slate tiles and matte finish blue tiles for about $1.50/sq ft at the seconds place.
