The kitchen will be a focal point of the downstairs and should have a view of most of the other living areas. It should be near the midpoint of the living area, but pushed back under the upstairs floor to create a lower ceiling than the rest of the downstairs living area. This, combined with a large curved counter that separates the kitchen and living room will make it appear as a separate room. The bar should be 37-39 inches tall to accommodate bar stools. It will have thick granite edges and a rock facade with a foot bar. The top will stick out 10-12 inches to allow the bar stools to slide under the edge. It will have a couple of arched curves (see the Bastille Metal Works picture) and have room at each end to enter the kitchen. We would like the bar to mirror, and be right under the outline of the open walkway above (see Hammerton Lighting picture). The addition of a few lights hanging from the ceiling (Hammerton picture) should help draw the perimeter of the kitchen as a separate room without limiting the visibility into or out of it.
The drawer that holds the utensils
:ike the way the island counter is a divider between the kitchen and the rest of the open floor plan. You can see the living room from the island. Like the rock on front of the island, although not this type. we want a thicker looking granite counter with chipped edges.
Maybe a slide out granite counter that matches the other counter that we could place anywhere in the kitchen as a portable table.
rock wall with the built in wine rack
rounded counter that divides the kitchen from the living area.
Custom Copper Countertop

accent lighting, rock
really like this type curved counter between kitchen and living area. would like some of the bottom to be in rock.
Pot Filler Faucet - $545.95
like the water at the stove, but I think we could find a faucet that pulls out for a lot less money.
Lake Washington Residence
like the idea of strip lighting that is out of sight.
This is exactly the idea we are looking for in a kitchen. The island/counter top separates the kitchen from the living area. The kitchen ceiling is lower than the living area due to the curved overlooking hallway on the second floor. We like the curved stairway matching the banister above, but want more rock and less wood. The counter top should be 37-39 inches tall on the living room side to allow for 5-6 medium tall bar stools.
