Houzz Tour: British Columbia Townhome with a Postcard View

I exhale as I see the hustle and bustle of downtown Vancouver behind me in my rearview mirror. I'm heading north on the stunning Sea to Sky Highway, which serves as the main artery between West Vancouver and Whistler. Appropriately named, this stretch of recently upgraded highway runs next to majestic Howe Sound and continues through pristine mountain valleys. Roughly 50 kilometers from downtown lies the somewhat unknown and secluded community of Furry Creek. Named after Oliver Furry, one of the original copper prospectors in the area, the community was initially developed alongside the internationally acclaimed golf course that occupies the majority of the land here weaving from mountainside to oceanfront. Although some homes are clearly visible from the highway, there is a collection of residences at Oliver's Landing that are truly hidden gems.

My mother, Lynne Buchanan was relocating back to the coast from the Okanagan, and searching for a quiet coastal home and knew instantly this was the place for her. While skimming through the listing with her realtor, she stopped and jokingly said, "This is the one — the mountains, the ocean, and look at that built-in espresso machine. I'm sold." Buchanan has lived in the home for under a year and has warmed to the contemporary style choices from the previous owners, adapting her furnishing and artwork to the fixed design elements of the space.
