Living boldy in your design choices isn't always about bright colors and crazy artwork. You can live boldy by simply using materials in an unexpected way. A trend of late has been to put wood flooring on the ceiling — a throwback to blue Victorian porch roofs. Wood tongue-and-groove or beadboard, however, is not the only type of wood you can put on your ceiling. CAROLE MEYER I managed to get creative in our second home in Mexico and really love the look of the ceiling in this guest bedroom....I saw the idea in an Italian design magazine and the builder added the lights which are on a dimmer and look very romantic at night. It is hard to see in the photo, but between each beam is an arch.

mmsim Our present home had an existing high quality and modern kitchen in high white gloss and light grey gloss. We replaced the heavy wooden work top with a black flecked granite and the ceiling is clad in white platic exterior cladding and it looks fantastic. The kitchen is long and by cross laying the cladding the kitchen looks even bigger. That and down lights gives it a very modern and clean look.
