I'm a communications and visual media professional, but at heart I'm a design and architecture geek, and home remodeling is in my DNA. Growing up in Stamford, Connecticut in the 1960s, I was surrounded by icons of contemporary design -- our Scandinavian furniture, visits to the United Nations, the Guggenheim museum, my father’s Eames chair -- and my mother’s artistic design sensibilities: We never lived in a house she didn’t remodel, rebuild, or redecorate.
