Unfortunately, besides re-watching and listening to them, there aren't many practical uses for worn out VHS tapes, cassette tapes, CDs, and DVDs. There are some quirky crafts for items beyond repair, but your best bet for tapes and CDs that still work is to donate them. Odds are there's someone out there who will think your trash is an absolute treasure. Donate them to the Goodwill, the Salvation Army, or the Alternative Community Training organization. ACT provides work for disabled individuals who work on erasing and repacking donated VHS tapes, cassette tapes, and floppy disks. Usually tapes still in good shape after erasing are resold, while the plastic parts of the rest of them are recycled. |
