Hideaways for the Hectic Holidays

As we enter the holiday season and all the family starts arriving, I'm planning ahead. I've been devising an escape route! When things get a little too hectic and Aunt Edna starts telling that story about her bunion surgery again, I know just where I'm heading. Want to come along?
You'll find me up here...just me and the birds. You can come, too, if you promise to bring hot cider and some of the leftover dressing.
Treehouses are great getaway spots. We adults like to pretend they are just for the kids, but the kids know better.
This treehouse even has a built-in escape slide. That should come in handy if someone comes looking for us.
Take a look around. Our treehouse is outfitted with a Dutch door and cute valances hung from twig curtain rods.
It really is a magical place filled with inspiration at every turn!
If you don't have a treehouse to escape away to when things get a bit overwhelming this month, a rooftop hideaway will do very nicely. I can hear James Taylor crooning now, "On the roof it's peaceful as can be."
If it's raining and you have to limit your escape destination to the inside, this would do nicely. They'll never look for you up here. A reading light, some good books...yep, it's perfect.
If you'd like your retreat a little closer to the ground, but still well stocked with good reading materials, you'll love this cozy nook.
Layla Palmer of The Lettered Cottage created the coziest little guest room in her home. Oh, the yummy turkey-stuffed naps one could take in this charming room.
Here's a little retreat that's not far from all the action. It's just close enough to be a part of the activities but far enough removed to catch up on some e-mails and let all that turkey and coconut cake settle down.
Fiddlesticks! I think they found us. Well, it was fun while it lasted.

Where's your favorite getaway when things get a bit hectic around the house?
