Eiffel Tower fans, this ideabook is for you. Gustave Eiffel's feat of engineering welcomed and wowed the crowds at the 1889 World's Fair (which, in an attempt to top it, inspired Ferris to design his famous wheel for the 1893 Columbian Exposition in Chicago). The Eiffel Tower is perhaps the most iconic and recognizable symbol of a city anywhere in the world.
Models one eighth the size of it exist in places like Cincinnati Ohio (the only one I've personally ascended — yee haw, King's Island!), and tiny models of it hang from our Christmas trees, sit among books on our shelves and have been fashioned into everything from salt shakers to doorstops.

This site-specific mural in Seattle lets the Eiffel tower stand up to the Space Needle; both towers were built for World Fairs, about 73 years apart. By the way, whatever happened to World Fairs? I feel like we're missing out on all kinds of crazy structures without them these days.

| I love to pick up little models of the Eiffel tower whenever I'm in Paris (don't go thinking I'm all fancy, this happens maybe once a decade). They're cheap, they make fun gifts and look great on a desktop, mixed in with books on a shelf, or on a nightstand. |

Pascale I was born in Paris, so I simply can't resist having several Eiffel towers scattered throughout our home. Other than a good croissant, nothing reminds me of France more than this! :-)

mira22 They remind me of Paris...but can also remind me of big box decorating stores too. It really depends on the execution.

merdunning Always nice to see a little bit of Paris in any decor, which can add charm, elegance and flare although I do agree the execution of strategically placed minimal key pieces is essential. In this case less seems more and all the above pics demonstrate restraint, which in my opinion looks great rather than cheap which can be a pitfall when you go crazy with the Paris theme.

Jenell Hardy Thank you for your pictures of the Eiffel Tower collection/suggestions. I am beginning to think about using more French Provencial Decor in my bedroom where I already have Loui XIV reproduction bedframe, dresser, and mirrors.
