Alan Buckingham

I am a freelance writer, editor, gardener and photographer. I have over twenty five years' experience in illustrated publishing, both as an editor and as an author, and have worked on countless information books, interactive CD-ROMs, and websites. In recent years I have written chiefly about gardening and photography, my two main interests. My books Allotment Month by Month, Grow Vegetables and Grow Fruit are illustrated with many of my own pictures. I am a long-time plot-holder on the prestigious Royal Paddocks Allotments near Hampton Court Palace, south-west London. Every summer I prove myself incapable of heeding my own advice and consequently grow far more fruit and vegetables than I and my family could ever hope to eat. Should I ever be given the opportunity to have my time again, I would happily swap my career in publishing for one as a head gardener.
