Our experience with Andrew, Natalie, Vitali and their team was awesome!
Their crew was always prompt and on time, very knowledgeable and professional and were willing to go the extra mile with any requests or surprises that came up. Their team kept our environment safe, clean and manageable for us throughout the process and were very respectful of our home. The quality of work was beyond our expectation and we couldn't be happier with our renovation!
5 Star + from our perspective, thanks FinishedBasements.ca !!!

We hired this company to complete our unfinished basement, approximately 1700 square feet. We normally do not write reviews, but we share our experiences with you so you do not fall into the same trap we did.
Costs far exceeded the budget: They revised their "contract" at least three times, each time increasing the costs of the project. They will tell you that we changed our minds on various things, but this is not true. They often came back to us saying we needed to add this, that or the other to the scope of work. There were at least two or three contractors whom we had to subcontract on our own (thereby exceeding the initial quote) to install windows, move gas lines etc.
Work is not done up to code: Despite what they will tell you, their work is not up to code. The electrical inspector attended the first inspection and noted deficiencies. We had to keep on the company to have the electrical work repaired so it was up to code. The inspector, who we believe has had a long history working with this company, did not bother to attend the final inspection and instead issued a document authorizing the work. Also, when we had the kitchen installed, the outlets and various plug points were not marked. Luckily we had taken photos of the project's progression, and hired another electrical company to correct their mistakes. What was most troubling about the electrical work was that one fixture in particular was completely not functional and many of the wires were left exposed. This was very concerning to us as we have children. Additionally, when we had the kitchen installed, there was a small leak under the kitchen sink. We had Enercare come to take a look at the leak (as we have a plan for plumbing repairs etc.) --- however, they would not do the work because according to Enercare, the plumbing was not done up to code.
Unprofessional: Lastly, there were minor paint issues and scratches that needed to be done at the end of the project --- for example, when the glass shower door was installed, the installer nicked the ceiling. Vitale came and took photos of the various deficiencies, and promised that someone would come by to correct the electrical, plumbing and painting issues. We took him for his word, and to our disappointment follow up emails were unresponsive, and when we tried to call they were very rude to us on the phone. They now had been paid in full, and had no reason to come back. In hindsight we should have withheld at least 10 per cent until all of the work was completed. Our project was over $80K.
When we researched this company many of the reviews were positive. There was one review from a doctor in Aurora who had similar experiences to ours. We now know that he was correct in his assessment of this company. We do hope that you heed our advice, and not hire this company. You want this to be a happy experience, and this was certainly not the case.

Igor and Vitali did a fantastic job. Our basement is approximately 1000 sq ft and the team at finished basements completed the project in three weeks - on budget and with impeccable workmanship. Highly recommended!

To start I want to say I am not one to write reviews, especially of a negative nature. But this company has dealt with me, my family and my home so poorly I would never wish it upon my enemy.
We began dealing with this company over a year ago as we had a large 2000 sq foot basement to Reno in a home that we plan on living for many long years to come. As one would expect we had nearly ten different contractors come by. We ended up decided on the final two. One which is this company and another that had a proprietary drywall system that nearly guaranteed a mold free basement as well as used spray foam to insulate. We were assured by finishedbasements that it was not necessary and said it was inferior to their system as the other company's material was made in China. The previous owner of our home had started the basement and thus the majority of the perimeter walls were framed as had insulation. We were assured multiple times that all existing insulation would be pulled down, checked for mold or cracks and then and only then would they frame it with their system on top. As well they said spray foam is not necessary. As a Doctor I have studied the effects of mold on the health of the individuals living there and the many symptoms it causes. Based on what we were promised we decided to give them the contract.
In addition In multiple meetings prior to our start date we told multiple members of their team that we wished to use higher end bathroom fixtures in our job and we were not told once when they would be needed. A few days prior to start we were meeting their "designer" and my wife was in a panic regarding having everything they needed. She was assured that she should not worry and we had plenty of time to get what they needed for the job once things started at the house. That very evening we got a text stating we needed our toilet by the next day! This was the first of many poor communications and false promises. The team came in and was in a complete rush to get things done in what ever way suited them and were not told by the salesman or Igor (owner) what we wanted done. Framing was not done in areas we wanted and extra framing was done over a beam we wanted exposed. Not to mention ductwork that was professional rerouted by a separate company was cut and rerouted where it shouldn't be. The next day we noticed that the insulation had not been taken down and checked. We immediately spoke with the salesman who we dealt with and he assured us it would be handled as we wanted. The owner came by and said to my face he would have his team take down the framing and recheck it and later changed his story and said they did a walk around and checked the foundation which was good enough. Framing was left on top of insulation with visible mouse feces. At that point two days into our job after rushing us constantly about bathroom material not being present (which we were never given prior notice and were told it could wait) we were told they would put the job on hold and move onto another site for approximately 7-10 days until we got our material. My wife and I breathed a sigh of relief as we had already ordered everything and now had the time to get it. We were asked if we could pay the first installment despite framing not being completed. In good faith we did as we wished to show our commitment to them and our trust. Over 10 days later I began messaging the salesman who then kept delaying me until finally I got a call. We can't come back for approximately three months as we are too busy and we could find someone else if we wished is what I was told! I was flabbergasted. With a family wedding and multiple guests arriving in six weeks time I was now left with a complete disaster in my home. I urged him to find a way as it was impossible for us to not have our home ready in time for our guests. I received a call back a few hours later. "Ok we can move it to 9 days from now and will get it done". I asked to meet prior to restart so we don't have any more misunderstandings. I was assured we would meet with them and everything would go smoothly. A day later the salesman confirmed for the next morning 8am. I felt relieved and again gave them the benefit of the doubt. Within the hour I received a phone call from the son of the owner whom I had met for 5 minutes in the showroom and had never dealt with for any part of my work. With complete disregard for our situation he proceeded to state there is no way they will do our job until three months from now. I said I wish to get back funds for what wasn't completed and I will not continue this project with them. He said that would be arranged. I immediately called the salesman and now the tone had changed. I was told the son is the owner and what he says goes, the job has been done and he disputed the work that was done incorrectly in the first place. My only choice was to demand a meeting and a breakdown of charges and a refund of what wasn't done. A few days later I took time out and had the decency to show up in their showroom. The "owner" was no where to be seen. I was given overly inflated charges for labor and I was actually charged 3000 for two clients they had to reschedule earlier to accommodate our schedule change. I would like to know who demands a discount to have their job started earlier than expected. In the end I was told I owed an additional 3000 above the excessive amount I had already paid for incomplete work. This was a complete slap in the face. Since the fact I have shown the state of my basement to two contractors who both agree no where near the amount they claim has been completed based on what I paid them. As a decent human being I can't even continue with more of the negatives of this company because I feel like I'm appearing as a complainer. What goes around comes around. If you wish to hire a company that makes false promises, rushes your work and your requests, cuts corner, disrespects clients after things are not the way they want them this company is for you.

After moving into my new home I decided I wanted a finished basement to allow me more entertaining space. I worked with the staff at Finished Basement to come up with a functional design that incorporated all the things I wanted - a wet bar, space for entertaining, a bedroom, a bathroom and an exercise room. I am very pleased with the finished product and everyone who has come to see it remarks on how lovely it looks and is impressed with the quality of the workmanship.
