actually planted in a large ceramic pot (with drainage) inside. The redwood box just hides it and creates more of a statement. You could also get a false top over the pot and put rocks on top so you cant see down into it.
support the plant's needs (check with your garden store for instructions and recommendations), you really can't go wrong with adding a massive houseplant.
