use a marble or stone with any degree of porosity, use a high quality sealer and remember to reapply sealer in the future. I'd be more comfortable with porcelain or glass tiles due to their extremely low moisture absorption properties.

high end marble. Can you tell me what is the brand and name of this tile?
The "marble" tile is from a company called Pental Marble and Granite here in Portland, OR. I'm not sure of the manufacturer. Many of the tile showrooms are carrying great look-alikes these days. Look for one in your area - I'm sure you'll find something that looks just as good.
about the marble look a like
@yelda - I'm sorry I don't have the color information available. We used a Custom Building Products color. It was selected to pull out the "tan" colors in the marble tile.

described as marble with oak but the Kitchen Lab website describes them as limestone. Can you clarify which material you used? Is one better than the other? Thanks.
