What is the object above the island?
I would also like to knpw the functiomality of the bulk head abovE the island
love oven, island with drawers but would need to have seating and open shelving
Kind of similar to kitchen look. Must add seating at the island though.
Coloring and cool ceiling/lighting application - can define an area (just not sure that I want to define the kitchen area)
Separate but important. A black range and hood are used to delineate the cooking area from the rest of this all white kitchen. It's simple hood has great impact because of it's placement and contrast with the concrete wall.

Where is the Island Fixture from?
Where id the light fixture above the kitchen island from?
I believe, based on the image, that this is Golden Sand (individual tiles). We're huge fans of your work Ward-Young! Hope you don't mind us providing some material information.
tile in cooking eating area and wood in other area.
Kitchen! Looking just at the kitchen it's very comfortable with the metal and wood. I'm of mix feelings with the island, though this island is better than most as it has the ability to also act as a high top counter.
Love the light over the island

similar design but wider so practical to work on and not in wood
Dying for a built-in eating area? Place it between kitchen and living area and guess what, a divider has been created. Plus, it separates the spaces while still allowing those eating to be involved with whatever action might be happening in the living room. The ultimate balance.

small space work room - plenty of seating for meetings, magazine holders add uniformity to shelving
Long and wide work surfaces across from each other - needs to be
like the long table to work at - can spread papers out and do larger projects here
Setup excellent for drawing, working, dinning etc. multi usage space
Great large office/homework area for family
Working from home can be distracting when that novel and warming cappuccino beckons from the next room. Well. Bring the warmth into your work culture. Set up coffee in the room itself. Keep a sweater and/or throw in the room. If not distracting, add a little music like jazz or classical to the background
personal favorite room by Bosworth Hoedemaker. This smaller room has been entirely devoted to a work space, and the space is kept full and orderly. The top two shelves of uniform magazine organizers work well for documents and other materials. So brilliant and beautiful.
