general numbers. The living/dining/kitchen space for our projects typically is between 1000-1300 SF. The overall window and exterior door budget for a 3000 SF house is usually between $100-$125K. The exterior door number can go higher depending on the number of oversized glass "lift-slide" doors, which are

Kitchen island with suspended shelves above. Photos by Linda Svendsen.
A favorite kitchen of mine was my grandmothers. It had an extremely low ceiling, but with oiled wood joists and floorboards above -- such warmth of material, and incandescent lighting to make it glow. I've always wanted a client who would appreciate such a cozy feeling. In a kitchen you can get away
No, custom. Made from used, old Douglass Fir from the studs we took out of a wall we removed between the old kitchen and dining.

I love that cottage kitchen and everything is at hand and close
The open cabinets are a great solution to the lack of light in the kitchen. Because this a historic home, Gainer couldn't expand the windows or move them. The floating glass cabinetry allows the light to filter through the entire kitchen. Gainer bought knobs at Ikea and sanded and painted them for a high-end

beautiful kitchen! What is the lighter colored stone used in the kitchen?
The shelves are custom made by the cabinet maker. There is a variety of ways to do these, in this case they were made with a rod bracket that is concealed within the shelf and bolted to the wall prior to the walls being tiled. Thanks for your interest in this kitchen!
Hi there, the fixture I used in this kitchen renovation is the large Eugene hanging pendant by designer Thomas O'Brien. They are large but when used with an exterior spot or flood provide wonderful

This is a custom wood window from Sebastopol Window. I salvaged glass from old windows to get the wavy glass effect. Single glaze custom wood windows with 7/8" muntin profiles look better than anything for period effect.
Keep it humble. Wood ceilings and rafters are the perfect backdrop for the vintage sink and stove in this kitchen. It’s not uncommon to see open upper cabinets, yet in this home, the owners left the doors off a lower unit and topped it with wood. It feels like they picked it up along the way and slipped
