But its minimalist look suited the owner/designer's sensibilities and he's the only one who bathes here, so if he loves its light-filled, exposed-beamed, industrial-with-rusty-accents aesthetic, that's all that matters. Here, a warehouse style is achieved with exposed beams and a rusty bathtub. I think pieces like this tub add a ton of character to a home.

The beams look great, can you tell me if the beams are real or faux. Are where can they be purchased? Thx
I want to use beams on a 9ft ceiling, but wondering if it's too low. These appear to be 9ft-10ft?
These are 9' ceilings. It isn't to low to use beams on 9' ceilings. One thing that we also have done is that we split the beams so they are not the full thickness. This also gives the illusion that they are actually part of the structure
The beams are reclaimed barn beams, They are cleaned and oiled.

What did you use to oil or seal the wood beams?
I also have barn beams by I'm afraid to put anything on them for fear they'll get tacky and collect dust.
The beams you see in the photo were the original beams for this 150 y.o. Barn. They were all taken apart and cleaned, refinished, and re-installed. We used a combination of new and old beams for the barn restoration, as many of the originals were
carpenter who took care of the restoration and rehabilitation of the barn beams.
The beams (for the most part) were original to the barn. They were removed, cleaned
Hi! The beams were sealed at the shop where they were restored. They used an oil based preservative that hardened. I understand your concern regarding the tackiness

Other than wooden beams, is there a more cost-effective way to accent this beautiful sloping roof? Would a different colour look good?
is a really large space and my sense is that you're trying to make it more intimate / cozy either with the beams or painting the ceiling a different color or. . . So perhaps adding onto the beams to make them into trusses and also creating a spring line with some trim for the ceiling trusses to connect
Antique the beams - I will attach a pic of my great room. They were plain and had no "spirit" --- now they are beautiful and full of energy.
