Dark woods and pops of color are all over this house on the water in total seclusion and privacy. A little compound of rooflines reminds me of a camp house arrangement of kitchen/ dining and bunk houses. It seemed very appropriate for a lake retreat on Lake Tadpole. and doors to die for? Details like these that we often don't think about can make such a difference in the architecture. Oh, and speaking of details, I'm loving the way they styled with artichokes here – it adds really nice shapes and colors.
Here a simple white bowl of artichokes is modern and sculptural, giving this very crisp room a little earthiness.

color. Could I apply dye over the stain to darken the color of the wood? I think I could clean it with solvent to get the rest of the shellack off. I'm trying to save the sanding of all the wood. Please let me know if this is possible or what you advise. Thanks.
If you use aniline dyes that are alchohol soluable, you should anve no trouble going right over the existing shellac to darken it. As always, do a little experimenting first to get the mixture and the technique.
Woodworker's Supply on line. The come in powder form, and you mix then with water. The nice thing about the water-based dyes is that, since they take a little time to dry, you rarely get lap marks. My favorite, all-purpose go to color is English Brown Mahogany. I would recommend you buy a selection of colors
