Potting bench. Who's to say that planting needs to stop once the ground freezes? Indoor potting benches are the perfect place to carry on with your green-thumb hobbies throughout the fall and winter and also duplicates as a great place to paint. I have a potting bench
bench indoors, and it is my go-to desk for any project that's messy.Tip: If you're bringing in your outdoor bench, go over the potting bench with a wire brush to remove dirt and inspect the corners for spider nests. Use white vinegar diluted with water and spray it over the entire surface. Let soak for

Morningside bungalow
avid gardener wanted someplace to bring in plants during the winter months. This small addition accomplishes many things in one small footprint. This potting room, just off the dining room, doubles as a mudroom. Design by Meriwether Felt, Photos by Susan Gilmore
I do love all of the windows! Very nice to pot plants!
any other. The windows open in, not out like casements, so pose no more threat than a double hung open during rain. The design idea was to make this potting room as much like a porch as possible. The owner grows plants from seed so between the windows and the fan the breeze helps to grow strong stems. And

Can you tell me where the pot in back center came from?
able to tell me what the larged leafe plant is called to the right of the urn down the back. I was wanting to see if they would suit being in a large pot as a feature plant. Thanks

Can you tell me where the pot in back center came from?
Do you mean the larger ones near the pot and behind the chair? If so they are Bromeliads.
They vary hugely in colour and size ranging from tiny tillandsia to giant forms such as the Vriesea imperialis (pictured above to the left of the brown pot and the chair). Bromeliads are grown for both foliage and flowers, and both can be spectacular. Easy to grow, they don’t even require soil, just bark
