appears that your island with the stove is quite a distanbce from the fixed countertops. Is there a standard distance between fixed countertops and working islands? From this picture it appears as if there is too far a distance to safely maneuver hot dishes from the stove to the counter. Thanks!!

This mantel is from Chesney's in England. Custom designed from an antique we found on Chesney's website. It is a black marble.
