“I disagree on the size issue. if you have more tiles over the smae area it will make the space feel more generous because of the repetition. If you have large tile and only a few with visible grout, it makes it feel smaller.”

If you want to make a smaller shower look larger, use lighter colored tiles, larger scaled tiles - like 12"x12" or larger and keep a lighter color on the ceiling as well so it doesn't feel "cave like".”
