My Houzz: A Ranch Style home in Salem Oregon Evokes Old World European
Really like the framed door and windows. What time of wood did you use? Was the door reclaimed or custom?
your comments here and elsewhere. There's different grades of cedar. Look for boards that are heavier and have a tight ring pattern. I wouldn't make a door out of it, but the windows have held up well- going on 13 years. With Home Depot products make sure they are fir. I don't like the way pine takes stain
I always thought cedar would be too soft for framing. We have used on ceilings. Love your design and promise to look into the Home Depot stock doors a little more closely. With the stained glass window it is exquisite.

selected a satin finish for the floor and a matte finish for the ceiling to let the grain come through without shininess. The reclaimed wood is very old-growth pine and the waxy look may be coming from the sap which still saturates the grain.

My client likes the bead board doors & crystal knobs. Just wondering if you think vanities would look even sharper with inset doors rather than overlays? Much thanks for fielding my question! Gordon
give me the measurements of the vanity? I'm wondering how deep/wide/high the makeup counter is and the height and width of the sink with the double door cabinet. Thanks in advance! -Rachel

shaker style door contemprary or very traditional and everyhting in between. At least that is what I read so in 10 years if I get sick of my kitchen I don't have to spend money on changing the doors I can just change hardware and other things. Plus you can never get sick of a simple door like you can
I understand his is fir to match, but can you tell me if it has a stain applied or is this natural colour? Also, any idea if it is VG old growth and the widths of board? I know the questions are pretty specific, but I really like this look with the white kitchen...
Noticed you have doors on the island on the stool side and drawers on the other. Are you happy with the amount and type of storage? Would you change anything?
