Modern Detached Garage
mid-century modern architect's home in St. Louis, MO is now owned by his son, who grew up in the home. The original detached garage was failing. Mosby architects worked with the architect's original drawings of the home to create a new garage that matched and echoed the style of the home, from roof slope
of how gracefully the detached garage echoes the features of the screen porch the architect added to his home in the 1960s. Photos by Mosby Building Arts.

Was the exposed lathe original/reclaimed? if so, was it sanded and or finished with any coatings? Looks great.
llilibe103: Thank you. The wood lath is the existing material from the original 1930s house. We removed the plaster from the lath then removed the lath from the wall. Next, we cleaned the lath, both sides and edges, with wire wheel drill bit and drill. We kept the finish natural - no coatings.
time. The cabinets are a lighter stained walnut veneer. McCullough salvaged the open wall shelves from another project. The solid oak floors are original to the house. Carpeting covered them during the home’s rental years, preserving them fairly well. New flooring was pieced in where walls were moved

The stool is originally from Afghanistan. We only recovered it in a faux leather. Glad you like it. Pack your bags! =0)

How is the original stone protected?
I love that there is glass on two sides. Is this common and who sells them. Thanks
We purchased the glass shower enclosure, including the pivot hinge and header, from a local glass company that provides custom work. Here is the website for Pen-Bay Glass, who we often use: http://www.penbayglass.com/ Thanks for your interest
The shower dimensions are 3' x 3'6"... smaller than it looks! That's the value of having glass on two sides. Thanks for your interest!

small but glass is the key

Work the new into the old. This modern glass shower disappears into the stone wall. The whitewashed, wide-plank Z door adds softness to this weathered room. Rough wood above is the perfect ceiling choice. Carry the look all the way through every detail with antique hooks and door latches. Keep it

North Bondi House
The house was originally a single story face brick home, which was ‘cut in half’ to make two smaller residences. It is on a triangular corner site, and is nestled in between a unit block to the South, and large renovated two storey homes to the West. The owners loved the original character of the house

I open up the house with this glass door while also closing off the open space with it? Mmmmmmm....................

Another view of the living area. An extra large modern art piece was used in the small space. A bright pink dress from the client's collection was added, reflecting her personal style. The client's existing bedside tables were re-purposed in the living room as a credenza. The Eames lounge chair is white

Art, rather than accessories, has a firm place in modern interiors. Little trinkets or blankets tossed over the furniture are rarely employed. Rather, art pieces provide a single mesmerizing focal point. In a cottage this approach
