“using the kitchen. If you stand for long period of time in front of the sink or the stove, consider getting an area rug that has more cushioning/padding below.
Then consider the coloring of your kitchen, and what colors you want to draw from it in your area rug. In this picture pops of red are throughout”

“on this table was dry brushing and dry blotting then brush (to build up the paint and make it look like there are more layers) then I also used stain to add color and texture. I don't think I actually did much sanding on it. Just built up the texture in layers. Wish I could be of more help!”
