hello, I was wondering how deep your footing in the planter for pergola post? Also, does you planter have a footing or is it
a stacked retaining wall? THANKS
all of pergolas. In the case where a pergola footing is installed in a raised bed or planter the 48" is installed at ground level plus the depth of the bed. In the image above the raised planter is about 20" making the total footing in the planter about 70" deep.... welcome to Minnesota.

I'm thrilled so many of you have responded to our home and approach!!
If interested, I have many before and after images to share. Especially with the grounds, because when we purchased the property it was a blank canvas of three acres of lawn.
Thank you!

this. Pergola looks too small. Would want one big enough to cover dining/ sitting space or none at all. Looks like an overhang for a backyard smoker

by attaching the pergola to the home, does it take away the sunlight from the interior of the home?
the main pergola shade. Work with your builder and have him create mock-ups of each layer for your approval before everything is secured into place. The pergola pictured here is only 2 layers. Not my favorite as the large structural beam blocks the view when looking out.
Pergolas usually have 2-3 layers of structure. The first, or lowest layer is usually the primary structure and needs to attach for strength and run at 90 degrees from the face of the building. The second layer is often medium sized members running parallel to the face of the building about 2 feet
