Permeable paver driveway and rain garden offer a sustainable approach to stormwater managment.
what pavers did you use? what are some of the plantings used? I reall ylike the grasses. How deep is your rain garden?
hi--these are Rima pavers used for the driveway, along with molinia grass, lobelia, and other native grasses and perennials. Depth of rain gardens is actually calculated based on the runoff area and soils. It is a site dependent factor but you can easily look up how-to guides in many municipalities,

Like the natural look of this. Not too fussy. Also like permeable space between

of the maintenance ... check out some our recent installs. Cheers! George http://www.houzz.com/projects/164931/EasyTurf-with-Paver-Stones
You can mow over the pavers if you plant grass that doesn't have heavy traffic to keep the height down
I like those kinds of pavers where you can plant moss in between. I guess you can use easy turf with this.

drive way thats greener and more permeable thus saving water
The open-cell pavers shown here provide the minimum surface area a car would need to navigate the path. What’s underneath the pavers is what really counts. A solid base is key to minimizing heaving and cracking. You will need
6-inch subbase of 1½-inch clean rock topped with a 4-inch base of ¾-inch clean rock, to make the driveway stable enough for cars to pass over it. The paver system goes on top of that. A polyurethane liner should be used near any foundation walls or concrete that needs to be protected from water flow-back

error with almost every paver / pavement installation is short-cutting the base course. If installing permeable pavers this is even more critical. For standard pavers, we specify 8" of crushed and compacted aggregate base course, 2" sand or quarry screenings bedding course, then pavers laid to pattern specified
excavated storm water storage chamber that's filled with washed stone beneath the pavers. The concept of permeable pavers is to permit infiltration of rain water through the pavers, store the storm water beneath the pavers to encourage infiltration into aquifers, and release the excess slowly over time
The owner is a part-time resident and the home is at 4,300 feet in elevation where there's a real frost heave potential with permeable pavers. The owner chose the permeable pavers for both ratings points toward this LEED for Homes Gold Rated home as well as the fact that their entire terrace is a storm

Transition from pervious concrete to permeable pavers near garage.
I like the idea of replacing our drive way with permeable pavers. This is a neat example of two types of permeable surfaces
note permeable paver at head of the driveway before garage.
By installing a permeable driveway, you’ll be directly protecting the integrity of our natural resources, supporting groundwater recharge and adding green space to help balance
increasingly popular approach is to use a drivable grass surface, be it a product that is hidden beneath the blades or incorporating grass between pavers. Grass paving allows water that would normally run into the street and sewer to enter the ground and be naturally filtered. Here grass is found next
