height of vanity - What is the height of the vanity here? And how high off the floor is the top of the vessel sink? What is the rule of thumb for calculating these heights? Thank you. »

Griffith Construction & Design, Inc. Hello and thank you for your question. This vanity height is 34" high and is about 8" cantilevered off the floor. The "rule" for calculating vanity height, or any countertop surface, is to determine who will be using the surface. In this case, it was a secondary bathroom to be used by a 5'2" college student. 90% of Kitchens are standard at 36". We have done vanities as high as 45" for a 6'8" basketball player. Builders often put 32" high vanities in secondary bathrooms for 2 primary reasons: 1) they are less expensive than a 36" vanity, 2) children often use secondary bathrooms so 32" is a good height while they are young. For a Master bathroom I recommend nothing less than 36" as even someone 5' tall can use it and many people throw their back out brushing their teeth so I think the less bending the better! I hope this helps!! Good luck on your remodel!
