What is the ceiling height in this room? - I love the look and feel of this room but only have 9 foot ceilings and am concerned that having the beams set lower would make things feel cramped. What are the beams outlining the room (and the ones on the ceiling) made of and how far down from the ceiling are they set? This is a gorgeous room! »
ZiON Furniture I guess the ceiling height is about 10' and the beam running on the side is less 20" from the ceiling. If you will notice the entrance on the right side should give you about 7'. The material used for the beam looks solid but I would say it is not. This is panel hallow constructed to give a solid effect. The wood outline on the ceiling I would say are cornice. I think you can still apply this on your 9' room only you reduce the dimensions of the beam & the distance from the ceiling. But also try to consider your room area if applying this design will not cramp it. I hope this helps!
Studio 1 Architects The ceiling is 11"-4" high and the soffit that runs around the perimeter of the room is at 9'-0" The soffit is wrapped in wood and is not solid. The soffit projects out 2'-0". The beams on the ceiling are simple applied moldings. So this idea can work for you 9'-0" high ceiling. The soffit could be set at 7'-9" and should only project out 12"-14" max. This should all be verified for clearances with trim and door and window header heights. Let me know if you have any other questions on this home.
