malsolitt Well done, the texture looks dreamy. I take it that's concrete on the exterior fireplace surround too? You've done a beautiful job on that coloring, soft yet fresh! I love it! thank you
Webber + Studio, Architects Thank you for the compliment,
the lights were designed by our office, we used galvanized flower cans and off the shelf light kits. They were put together by the project Electrician.
Webber + Studio, Architects This opening to the space below uses doors for privacy, one could certainly use window treatments if you are using them in the rest of the room.
10. Think apres-ski...in the Alps. Those designing chalet-style digs mastered the modern rustic aesthetic a long time ago. There's a European-inspired simplicity that rules these roosts. It stresses the importance of big white fluffy duvets, large beams and most important, a blazing fire in the woodstove or fireplace. Alcove. Create a tiled alcove within any wall to house a suspended fireplace with an extra-cozy vibe. Design tip: Finish your alcove with a tile that stands out to create a perfect focal point.

I like this space because of the fire place and the open area leading to other areas of the house. This room displays the element of design of abstract because you normally don't see fireplaces like that or the interesting opening in the wall.
