This kitchen has same issues. I'm not sure about this island shape b/c I think most food action would be over by fridge...although at my house now it's like this and food gets moved around to sink side and prepared.

very similar to what I want, don't have so much room so the DW needs to go to left of sink next to fridge, corner cabinet, can the hood vent out directly, and still have a small )shallow) cabinet space?
