caranm This could be a porcelain tile by Country Floors called Brera Brick, 4x24. It gives the look -- albeit a little more refined -- and great texture of travertine, but is not porous and so works well for a backsplash. I just came upon this at a local stone supplier this weekend and plan to use it in just this application.

zinnderson it's probably a 12" cabinet underneath. In VA you have to have at least 4" between a wall and a stovetop.
