kelgraw Wow you cannot ask for a more beautiful view than that! I don't mind benches for casual meals, I can see the issue if you're going to be sitting for an extended period at a table like this. I do like the look though, it's a simple and intimate.
ElleInOregon There are many places in the northwest that look like france with vineyards spread out over the rolling hills..some are even planting lavender and sun flowers to further accent the appearance. Of course the houses surrounding give it away! If you want a great US vacation, do a tour of Northwest (Oregon, Washington and south Vancouver BS) vintners. We have concerts, a plethora of tasting rooms and B&Bs to stay in..and stop in Leavenworth Washington, which is a touch of Germany in central Washington for "The Sound of Music" live theatre outdoors in the Icicle Valley. (no I'm not in Leavenworth but I go there every year)
Sticks and Stones Design Group inc. This is in the Okanagan Valley which is about 4 hours from Vancouver! So beautiful! http://www.greataranch.com/ We love it here designers Paradise! www.sticksandstones.ca
All things to all benches. This one vignette captures all the points above in one beautiful and simple way.
Do you use benches at the table?

Capitalize on any views, large or small: If you have a breathtaking view, use it! This dining table was centered around this lovely vineyard which appears to go on for miles. The openness of the space also gives the illusion of dining outdoors. If your view is shorter but still sweet, use it.
Before I saw this image, I thought an ocean view could never be surpassed. Boy, was I wrong. The way this dining table is aligned with the rows of the vineyard makes this dining room a dream come true.
In this design, the table is laid out to reference the rows upon rows of grapevines. The doors and windows were placed to give open views of the vineyard and even the light fixture is situated in line with the plantings outdoors.
Here is the slab table idea with benches that would serve as formal entry table, it is also centered on opening like our dining room.
feels too bulky and do not like benches versus dining chairs
I love how this space is open to the outdoors. Not only did the view from the outside get my attention but so did the light brown furniture. I think that the kind of wood that was chosen looks so natural and homey.
