Great house - hi there, ive just got onto this and posted a question about my own house needing a more inviting and obvious entrance, so my quesiton is--any more details on the horizontal 'thing' going around the house---sort of like a decorative eave? Any other details would be great »
John Lum Architecture, Inc. AIA The overhanging roof element you are referring to provides shading to the windows during mid-day and into the afternoon. It also adds an element of eave articulation, and acts as part of the drainage system for the Living Roof above. The underside is wood strips spaced apart for roof/ eave venting, while the edges are detailed with metal matching the main roof. I'll be adding new photos of this project later this week.
