Remodel transitional-kitchen

• In order to minimize environmental impact of construction waste and materials production, original vaulted ceiling structure was preserved and refinished. It added warmth to an otherwise neutral color palette and provided a continuity of visual flow between different planes.

• Solid Bamboo flooring was selected for the majority of the house, with an exception of the entry and the kitchen areas where more durable floor materials were desired. Slate was a natural choice that provided much needed durability in the high traffic areas as well as beautiful background for the kitchen's cabinetry. It was also used in the outdoor patio area creating a strong visual connection between indoors and outdoors.

Semi-custom cabinetry was a conscious choice due to budgetary restraints, yet a desire for durable and long lasting structure.

• Custom-made concrete countertops and the back-splash were made by a local company using local resources.
